Jon Woolley explores his connection to Alabama, and celebrates the biodiversity and cultural diversity that exists in the state. By focusing on the connections where scientific understanding, emotional experience, and imagined realities coexist, he inspires wonder and empathy towards all forms of life through his work. Woolley grew up on a small farm in Sterrett, ALabama, where he drew daily beginning at age three. His subject matter included ants carrying food, and he continues to rely on his art as a means to process his environment and those around him. Woolley graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2009 with a degree in International Studies, with a focus on sustainable agriculture.
